The Tristan weighs just 400 grams and folds down to hand size. But we designed it to be carried every day, not left waiting inside a suitcase.
Packable backpacks solve an obvious travel problem. They give you an extra bag when you need one, without taking up valuable space in your luggage.
But making a backpack packable often means removing the features that make it comfortable and practical. Pockets disappear, back panels lose their structure and everything ends up in one large compartment.
We wanted the Tristan Packable Backpack to be different. It needed to fold down small enough for travel while still working as a proper backpack once opened.
A packable backpack with 17 liters of space
The Tristan folds into its own inner pocket and becomes compact enough to hold in one hand. Open it, and it provides 17 liters of carrying space for everything you need throughout the day. Heavily influenced by the functional minimalism of Dieter Rams, we stripped away superfluous noise to focus entirely on daily utility:

Secure Access: The main compartment closes with both a drawstring and zipper.

External Utility: Two large mesh pockets keep bottles within easy reach, while the front zipper pocket provides quick access to smaller essentials.

Internal Order: Inside, a separate zipper pocket includes a practical key holder.
This organization makes the Tristan useful for much more than carrying an extra layer on holiday. It can hold your laptop for the commute, your essentials for a day in the city or everything you need for a spontaneous trip to the beach.
Only 400 grams, without giving up comfort
Reducing weight is easy when comfort is not a priority. The challenge was creating a backpack that feels light without feeling unfinished.
A breathable spacer fabric forms the back panel, improving airflow and preventing the material from sitting directly against the body. Adjustable shoulder straps and a chest strap provide additional stability while walking or cycling.
The shoulder straps can also be stored inside the back compartment. This transforms the backpack into a tote bag that can be carried using its reflective rope handle.
Reflective details improve visibility in low-light conditions while remaining integrated into the minimal black design.
Ultralight ripstop material made from recycled textiles
The material is one of the reasons the Tristan can stay ultralight without feeling fragile. Its soft ripstop fabric is made using recycled textiles and woven with stronger threads that help stop small tears from spreading.
As an independent B Corp, we spent years working directly with recycling plants to ensure our technical fabrics meet rigorous environmental and functional standards. Unlike many technical fabrics, it remains flexible and does not feel stiff. Lightweight support in the back and other key areas gives the backpack enough structure for comfortable carrying, while still allowing it to fold away easily.
A water-repellent finish helps protect the contents from light rain. Together, these elements make the Tristan suitable for both regular daily use and travel.
